Frequently Asked Questions

What is the first day of school for Jax Classical?
Wednesday, August 10, 2021.

What are Jax Classical’s school hours and drop-off/pick-up times?

Morning Carline: 7:30am - 7:55am

Afternoon Carline: 2:50pm - 3:25pm

Students who need to arrive prior to 7:30am will have the opportunity to join the Before Care program. Children should not be dropped off before 7:30am unless they are in the Before Care program.

Early Dismissal Procedures

As the school year progresses, we understand that there may be times a scholar has to be released from school prior to the 3:00pm dismissal time. Please notify the classroom teacher, and attendance@jaxclassical.org the name of the student(s) and the time they are to be released. Please note, there is no early dismissal after 2:30pm. If a parent arrives after 2:30pm, they will have to wait until 3:30pm outside of the main school gate and they can pick up their scholar from the “walker” area.

What do I do if my child is absent or needs to be absent?

A detailed list of excused and unexcused absences are in the JXC Family Handbook. The student's parent or legal guardian shall make a call to the school or give advance written notification to the school when a student will be absent for excused reasons. Validated Absences: Brief illness, appointments, and family business are considered absences for purposes of meeting attendance policy requirements. Non-medical absences must be documented by written notes from parents. All notes can be sent to school with the student on the first day returning to school or scanned and emailed.

How to authorize others to pick-up my student?

If you filled out your Authorized Pick-Up Form during registration you will not need to fill out additional forms unless you have a change or if you wish to add another pick-up person. Forms will be available in the school office.

What safety and security plan is in place for the school?

JXC will have full-time security on the school grounds. A Visitor Management Software program is also in place to perform background checks for all visitors to the school campus. We have consulted with a Safety and Security Task Force made up of former law enforcement and other security experts. The school has a Threat Assessment Team and an Active Assailant Team, ensuring procedures are in place and effective in the case of an emergency. Monthly random Emergency Drills for all teams, teachers, staff and students will be held.

What is Jax Classical’s uniform policy?

The academy’s Uniform Policy can be found HERE. Uniforms may be purchased from Lands' End or any other uniform vendors. Please remember to follow the JXC Uniform Policy as vendors carry many different options and not all are approved for our school. School logo patches will be provided by the school at a nominal cost. More information on patches is forthcoming.

Does Jax Classical have a Before and After Care Program?

Jacksonville Classical Academy is pleased to announce that we will be providing our own Before & After Care programs for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. While both of the programs will have a cost, we have worked to make them more flexible and to keep the price in line with other Duval public schools.  Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch may qualify for a scholarship to cover the program's fee or a portion thereof.

Applications for the free and reduced lunch must be completed for the 2021/22 school year after July 1, 2021.  (A link to the application will be provided once the form is available.) The registration process will be starting soon and parents will be notified as soon as the registration form is available. All payments will be made through MySchoolBucks accounts.

Does JXC offer food service?

For the 2020/2021 school year, JXC is participating in the Seamless Summer Option Waivers which allows all students to eat breakfast and lunch at no charge.  The program is currently scheduled to run through the end of the 2021/2022 school year.

Our food service is being provided by Lintons. They have a great reputation for providing tasty, nutritious food.  Stay tuned for menus, as well as information on submitting applications for free and reduced meals

Are there any transportation options available?

We currently do not offer any transportation.

What is the Jax Classical School Supply Program?

It saves parents time and money along with ensuring consistency in the required items.

Jacksonville Classical Academy parents and guardians can avoid the hassle of school supply shopping and ensure that Jax Classical teachers and students have an efficient and uniform supply of necessary items for the classroom. The traditional way of searching for specific school supplies on each teacher’s list takes time and items can be hard to find. It is estimated that purchasing these items separately averages around $75.00.

Our School Supply Program requests a donation of $50.00 per child to cover all consumable supplies required for the school year. This includes tissues, sanitizer, markers, crayons, paper, pencils, composition notebooks, folders, planners, etc. Most families will make this contribution during the registration process. If you have not contributed, you can do that now. Click Here.

If all parents contribute to this program, we can continue it every year, and ensure that the students have the supplies that they need without the need for parents or staff to shop for supplies. Thank you for your generous contributions!

Will Jax Classical offer any sports programs and clubs?

We plan to have both sports and clubs!

Is there anything I can do to help?
